Paul,
Thanks for the compliments.
You are exactly correct with regard to how I use a plotted curve and a sheet metal template... The part I like least is cutting out the metal template... This is because I use fairly heavy metal. Which is neces...

Hello guy,
Regarding your question : "...What ratio of diaphragm area to throat area did you arrive at (for the large horn) & how did you choose it?..."
The ratio I used for the 45Hz horn is about 65% of the ø of the diaphragm LESS THE SUSPENS...

Thanks Romy, Paul, and Ronnie for the comments and encouragement :
Here are some responses :
1) Rubber gaskets :
Maybe it is not so important to have an “air-tight” seal (???). The rubber gaskets are there to seal the cover to the rear chamber...

What happens when we say "Yeah man, that's what I said, the sound of your system sucks"?
What makes people so sensitive to criticism of their decisions regarding audio?
What makes audio different than other realms open to criticism?

Romy,
It's good to have all this info in one post.
Regarding N° 5 :

I have seen a lo...

Hello Romy and friends,With regard to constructive criticism:
At the risk of stating the obvious: Not many people (audio manufacturers included) have your level of references with regard to both sound and equipment (to say nothing of musical cu...

Romy,Thanks for your thoughts.Very interesting your idea to take 110v from half the secondary straight off the pole... I am trying to confirm with the electric company that this might be possible... Otherwise I've got some climbing gear&nbs...

I’ve been thinking about all this electricity stuff…
I’ve stopped using all power conditioning devices since Bush got re-elected, and I consequently left the country to start a new life in the land of 220v/50Hz (this BTW, is not an exaggeration).

Your latest post got me thinking in a sort of incomplete way about how you might locate the injection channel... If you consider tone as a harmonic of the original source, then (depending on the order of harmonic) it may in fact not be co...

Once you establish that you are for sure on the right track with the whole idea of the Injection Channel, it would not be such a big deal to cut and extend the vertical mast of your Macodo frames, moving your Fundamentals Channel up... You could have...

So if I understand correctly, you are still using both elements of the Red, but have separated them, and now have the HF element as shown in the above photo, and the woofer is still in the large box (still sitting up on top?), and filtered to simulat...

Thanks very much Romy and Dan for the input.
With the exception of a structure to locate the horns, I have all the tools necessary to make the measurements.
Though this is all happening in France where DSPs and TADS rule* (see note at end), all...

Some thinking about Romy's Injection Channel (see the following thread) : GoodSoundClub - Romy the Cat's Audio Site - The "Macondo Ultimate" MK-XXVII, Revision 432 ... brings me to a question that I've had a for quite some time: When aligning a "norm...

Romy,
I'm very pleased to learn that you've got your Injection Channel done.
I assume the above illustration is not indicative of the way you have the Tannoy Red aligned with regard to the other drivers, as it appears to be sitting out in front...

Very interesting...So if I understand correctly, the "Injection Channel" consists of a pair of Tannoy Reds, used as direct radiators, in sealed enclosures, which are intentionally "live", meaning, optimized to resonate according to your des...
